Rapture Preworkout Users Should Check Lot 260327-4 After FDA Testing Finds Unlisted Stimulant DMAA in Three Flavors

People who use Rapture Preworkout should check the lot number on their container. Leader Formulas LLC is recalling three flavors of the powder nationwide after testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found 1,3-dimethylamylamine, better known as DMAA, a stimulant linked to heart problems.

The company said the ingredient was found during FDA testing, according to a recall notice posted by the FDA on Oct. 7. The recall covers lot 260327-4 in Rainbow Twist, Electric Lemonade, and Berry Mojito flavors. The company said it has received no reports of adverse events.

Preworkout powders are often taken daily and sometimes combined with coffee, energy drinks, or other supplements. For regular users, a hidden stimulant can add to the strain on the heart during intense exercise.

Flavors, UPC Codes and the Lot Number to Check

The recalled product comes in 450-gram round plastic containers with red and black lettering and a rhinoceros-print seal. The FDA notice lists these UPC codes: Rainbow Twist, 710154236506; Berry Mojito, 710154236544; and Electric Lemonade, printed in the notice as 710143 236513.

The Electric Lemonade code uses a different prefix from the other two flavors, which may reflect an error in the notice. Consumers should rely on the lot number, 260327-4, to confirm whether a container is affected.

The product was distributed nationwide to retailers and online, including through leaderformulas.com, between Jan. 29, 2025, and May 25, 2026, according to the company. Details in ConsumerLab’s recall summary match the FDA notice. The notice does not list an expiration date or name specific stores.

To check a container, find the lot code on the tub or its label, compare it with 260327-4, and then confirm the flavor name. Containers from other lots are not part of this recall.

An FDA Warning Months Before the Recall

The recall is not the FDA’s first action on this product. On May 5, 2026, the agency issued a public health warning about Rapture Preworkout, saying its analysis found DMAA that was not listed on the label. The FDA advised consumers not to buy or use the product.

According to the company’s own distribution dates, the product continued shipping until May 25, about three weeks after that warning. The formal recall was announced Oct. 6, about five months later. Neither the company nor the FDA has publicly explained the timeline.

The gap matters because a tub bought in the spring may still be in a gym bag or kitchen cabinet. People who missed the May warning may not know the product was flagged.

The case follows other recent FDA warnings about supplements with ingredients that were not on the label, including weight-loss products found to contain a toxic plant. In both cases, the problems came to light after the products were already on the market.

Heart Risks and Symptoms That Need Care

DMAA is a synthetic stimulant that has appeared in workout and weight-loss supplements, sometimes labeled as «geranium extract,» according to the FDA’s May warning.

The recall notice says DMAA can raise blood pressure and «could lead to cardiovascular problems, including heart attack,» as well as shortness of breath and chest tightness.

The risk may be higher for people with high blood pressure, heart rhythm problems or other heart conditions, and for those who combine preworkout powders with caffeine, energy drinks or other stimulants.

Anyone who used the product and has chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, fainting, a racing or irregular heartbeat, a severe headache, or weakness on one side of the body should call 911. People with milder symptoms, such as jitteriness, a pounding heartbeat or trouble sleeping, should stop using the product and contact a health care provider. The FDA’s May warning advised anyone with side effects to consult a health care professional as soon as possible.

    Refunds, Reporting, and Safer Choices

The company asks customers to stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions can be sent to Patrick@leaderformulas.com or by calling 832-855-7562, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time.

Side effects can be reported to the FDA through its MedWatch program. Reports help the agency identify problem products and track harm.

Dietary supplements, including preworkout powders, do not need FDA approval before they are sold. Shoppers can look for products with third-party testing seals, check the FDA’s health fraud and recall listings before buying, and be cautious with products that promise extreme energy or rapid results.

People who take prescription medicines, especially for blood pressure, heart conditions, ADHD, or depression, should talk with a pharmacist or clinician before using any stimulant-based supplement.

The FDA notice does not list a recall classification, and the agency has not said whether other Rapture lots or Leader Formulas products are being tested. MedicalDaily will update this report if the recall expands or if illnesses are reported.
