CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA’s Artemis II astronauts fired their engines and blazed toward the moon Thursday night, breaking free of the chains that have trapped humanity in shallow laps around Earth in the decades since Apollo. The so-called translunar ignition came 25 hours after liftoff, putting the three Americans and a Canadian on course for a lunar fly-around early next week. Their Orion capsule bolted out of orbit around Earth right on cue and chased after the moon nearly 250,000 miles (400,000 kilometers) away. “Ladies and gentlemen, I am so, so excited to be able to tell you that…
Asia-Pacific markets traded mostly higher Friday, after Iran and Oman were reportedly drafting a protocol to «monitor transit» through the Strait of Hormuz, raising hopes that the crucial waterway could partially reopen. U.S. crude futures jumped almost 12% to trade at $112.06 per barrel, while global benchmark Brent was up around 8% at $109.24.The spot price…

A trial is scheduled to start on May 18. A brief phone conference was conducted after Liman issued his ruling. On the call, lawyers discussed the process of jury selection for the trial.Baldoni, who directed…

By Robert Scucci | Published 1 hour ago Overprotective parents are tough nuts to crack. On one hand, can you really blame a mom or dad for trying to shelter their children from the horrors of the world, no matter how misguided their attempts may be? On the other hand, sometimes you’ve just got to push the baby bird out of the nest and see if they can fly on their own. In more extreme cases, you might have to fool your daughter into thinking that whenever she’s aroused, she’ll burst into flames, like in 1987’s Nice Girls Don’t Explode.…
If you only got your news from the Democratic Party’s corporate wing, you’d be excused for thinking that not much of consequence was happening in the world. Centrist groups like Third Way and pro-Netanyahu organizations like the Anti-Defamation League don’t seem to be fretting about the escalating war in the Middle East, the Trump regime’s insider trading, or Republicans’ plans for another reconciliation package that would drastically cut health care spending to fund the war (while also suppressing the vote).
Apr 2, 2026; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Uconn head coach Dan Hurley during a press conference ahead of the Final Four of the men’s 2026 NCAA Tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium. INDIANAPOLIS — Dan Hurley was more laughs than usual on Thursday as UConn kicks off another residency in the Final Four. The Huskies are riding into Indy on a rolling high courtesy of a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by freshman Braylon Mullins that took down Duke and sent UConn into a Saturday national semifinal with Illinois at Lucas Oil Stadium. «I’m not trying to keep focused on that,» said Mullins, back in…
President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he plans to sign an order to pay «all» employees at the Department of Homeland Security amid the record-long agency shutdown.»Help is on the way for our Brave and Patriotic Public Servants who have continued to work hard, and do their part to protect and defend our Country,» Trump wrote in a post to his social media platform.Trump did not say where the money would come from, or how long the administration would be able to pay the tens of thousands of employees.Last week, Trump signed a presidential memorandum ordering DHS to issue…
The FDA yesterday approved Eli Lilly’s weight loss pill, orforglipron. The agency is also facing renewed scrutiny over transparency gaps related to advisory committee conflicts, and its “breakthrough” label for devices is drifting toward more ambitious — but not necessarily better-validated — AI tools. Meanwhile, Insilico Medicine is pitching AI drug discovery as a sort of asset factory rather than a means to guaranteed approval ends. Trump may not be done with import tariffs on drugs The Trump administration has prepared an order that would impose a 100% tariff on some imports of patented medications and their active ingredients, according to…
