For hours, the masked protesters and masked ICE agents have stood staring at each other, separated by a thin strip of asphalt. At the edges of the crowd, New Jersey state troopers stand around, arms crossed, looking bored. Daylight hours at Newark’s Delaney Hall immigration detention center are quieter, the crowds thinner, the officers behind the gates more relaxed. It’s when, until recently, families could still go in and out, visiting their relatives inside. But when night falls, things change.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding ongoing negotiations between the two countries, a U.S. official told ABC News, and as Israel expanded its offensive against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia in southern Lebanon. The U.S., the official said, proposed that Israel would refrain from escalation in the Lebanese capital Beirut in exchange for Hezbollah’s halt of all attacks on Israel. That step, the official said, «would create space for gradual de-escalation and an effective cessation of hostilities.»Aoun «tried to advance this proposal and secure an agreement,» the U.S. official said,…
The total credit and debit card fees paid by merchants to card processors, led by Visa and Mastercard, have increased 70% since 2019 to $198 billion in 2025, according to data from the Nilson Report. The rise has been fueled by an overall increase in consumer spending, a shrinking number of people using cash and an uptick in fees charged by credit card companies that largely go toward funding rewards programs. The National Retail Federation, an industry organization pushing for legislation to reduce swipe fees, estimates those fees add more than $1,200 a year in higher prices for the average household. The…

There’s an eternal truth that nobody at an EDM festival will say out loud while their heart rate is racing and the bass is rearranging their vital organs: the music is not the point. The point — if we’re being our most honest — is… ~~~vibes~~~. It’s the connection (both literal and metaphysical) with the other 30,000 people at the festival. The moment when you look around and feel a true connection to the other bouncing bodies. And that is the whole premise behind Insomniac’s Hotel EDC, hosted this year at Virgin Hotels, Las Vegas. The idea is simple: Take…
UCLA’s Megan Grant is just like every other college senior her age.Sure, it might not seem like it from the outside looking in. After all, how can someone who has hit 89 home runs across her college career — one short of the Bruins’ record — and helped one of softball’s most dynamic offensive teams check off a list of new NCAA and program records relate to the other sociology majors in her classes at UCLA?Grant disappears into her head sometimes, something she readily acknowledges. But her solution might not be as accessible to all the other “Twilight”-binging, video-game-loving UCLA…
