Initially, Saxon thought a casting call from Skydance and Tom Cruise was just a prank, but it turned out to be a genuine offer.Upon arriving on set, Saxon was greeted with open arms, receiving “a big hug and a cheer” from the cast and crew. The atmosphere contrasted with his earlier experience, highlighting the camaraderie and dedication of the team as they worked…
U.S. Capitol Police Chief Michael Sullivan is asking the federal government to support the department’s largest budget ever in light of a growing number of threats made against lawmakers. Chief Sullivan went before Congress to request a $1.02 billion budget — an increase of about 20% — after he said lawmakers, their families and staff members had close to 15,000 threats directed toward them in the past year. The chief said that’s a 58% increase in threats from 2024 — and he expects that number to rise in 2026. “These are not just numbers, they’re threats against real people. We…
U.S. hockey star Jack Hughes might have lost more than a couple of teeth during the gold-medal-winning victory against Canada at the Milan-Cortina Olympics last month. The puck that Hughes smacked into the net in overtime to give the United States its first men’s Olympic hockey gold since the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” was seemingly forgotten amid the raucous celebration. But this week, the Hockey Hall of Fame began displaying that puck along with the one Megan Keller knocked into the net in overtime to give the U.S. women’s team gold in Milan. The International Ice Hockey Federation apparently secured the frozen…
Good morning. In today’s news — one biotech got a third consecutive rejection from the FDA, and a group of analysts think that Eli Lilly’s stock is overvalued. Also, a Huntington’s researcher speaks on the UniQure-FDA fray and J&J scores a psoriasis pill approval. Huntington’s researcher treads (lightly) into UniQure-FDA fray From my colleague Andrew Joseph: When the biotech UniQure last year said that its experimental gene therapy for Huntington’s disease had slowed the progression of the untreatable condition by 75%, Ed Wild, a longtime Huntington’s clinician at University College London and one of the trial’s investigators, described the outcomes as…
The Israeli military announced Wednesday that an overnight airstrike killed Esmaeil Khatib, Iran’s minister of intelligence, in yet another massive blow to the Iranian security structure. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed Mr. Khatib’s death in a statement, saying Israel is continuing to strike at key figures in Iran’s security and leadership structure. “Israel’s policy is clear and unequivocal: No one in Iran has immunity, and everyone is a target,” Mr. Katz said Wednesday in a statement. Iran has not confirmed Mr. Khatib’s death. He assumed the role of Iran’s top intel officer in 2021 under then-President Ebrahim Raisi. Unlike…
Even before February 28, the reasons for Donald Trump’s imploding approval rating were abundantly clear: untrammeled corruption and personal enrichment to the tune of billions of dollars during an affordability crisis, a foreign policy guided only by his own derelict sense of morality, and the deployment of a murderous campaign of occupation, detention, and deportation on American streets. Now an undeclared, unauthorized, unpopular, and unconstitutional war of aggression against Iran has spread like wildfire through the region and into Europe. A new “forever war”—with an ever-increasing likelihood of American troops on the ground—may very well be upon us. As we’ve…
